Our inaugural Hyper-GT perfectly marries sleek beauty, advanced technologies and exceptional performance for an exceptional driving experience that is tailored to each owner.
Where the Senna was an architectural representation of downforce, Speedtail represents velocity in physical form. Its teardrop shape optimizes for drag reduction thanks to carbon-fiber front-wheel static aero covers and retractable digital rearview cameras which reduce surface area.
Exterior
McLaren Speedtail’s elegant form allows air to glide over its shimmering surface like never before, its windshield flowing uninterrupted from cowl to the middle roof section and bodywork seamlessly flowing into doors and rear quarter panels without seams or other interruptions – creating a dream machine built to inspire an epic life with each journey into new horizons.
The Speedtail’s revolutionary design makes it exceptionally aerodynamic, thanks to front-wheel static aero covers and retractable digital rear-view cameras (instead of mirrors) contributing to its ultra-low drag of just 0.22cd. Its teardrop shape provides smooth initial contact with air while its dramatically elongated tail effectively manages flow to reduce turbulence and stall.
Inside the Speedtail you will discover an extravagant central driving position and two passenger seats on either side. This arrangement recalls that of McLaren F1’s unique seating arrangement and provides a commanding view of the road as well as an immersive driving experience. Furthermore, premium Scandinavian leather upholstery allows you to personalize its color to meet your own aesthetic needs.
One of the Speedtail’s outstanding interior features is its use of glass, creating a sense of openness and spaciousness. Furthermore, each window in its suite includes electrochromic glass which darkens upon pressing a button – providing drivers with an easy way to shield their eyes from sun glare.
Finally, the Speedtail’s dashboard features three displays that provide ample information for its driver. Each one boasts a touchscreen interface that can be customized by its owner to customize their driving experience.

Interior
The McLaren Speedtail is the inaugural vehicle from their Track25 masterplan and one of 18 new cars that will be produced under this plan. Intended to showcase McLaren Automotive’s future, this groundbreaking car features some truly cutting-edge technologies and designs.
First and foremost, the McLaren P1 is the company’s most aerodynamically efficient car ever created – thanks to its teardrop shape which keeps air close while smoothing it away smoothly. Furthermore, it features a central driving seat designed to put drivers at the centre of their experience – similar to its spiritual predecessor – the McLaren F1.
An impressive feature of this car is its electrochromic glass installed at the top of its windshield. This feature helps reduce sun glare during driving by darkening when a button is pushed; this helps the driver focus on the road more. In addition, its seats feature Scandinavian leather covering that’s both lightweight and durable – this allows owners to personalize the interior by matching colors that reflect their preferences – giving their interior more character.
Besides its luxurious leather, this model also boasts innovative forms that elevate its use of North European hides, such as lightweight aniline and semi-aniline leather seating that facilitates entry and grip as well as a dashboard surface featuring high performance technical leather for ultimate elegance and luxury.
McLaren enthusiasts should definitely own one of AUTOart’s Frozen Blue McLaren models as this marks their debut production! This release is sure to become an instant classic. This exquisite model captures the overall lines of the vehicle beautifully while offering some special extras that are usually absent in AUTOart releases – functional luggage pieces for both front and rear storage areas, adjustable rear wing/flaps, etc. It features a transparent display to reveal its working components inside its engine bay, featuring excellent panel gaps and paint job. In addition, all of McLaren’s interface hardware is conveniently grouped on an overhead console for instant and hassle-free access to Active Dynamics settings.
Performance
The McLaren Speedtail marks another remarkable chapter in its longstanding tradition of merging ultrahigh-performance hybrid electric power with striking design. As their most streamlined roadgoing car ever, it embodies their design philosophy of “everything for a reason”; every detail contributes towards producing its extraordinary velocity resulting in its distinctive body shaped like an “X,” complete with dramatic elongated tail producing remarkable drag and lift efficiency; fluid integration into airflow creating an “Arcadian” form, epitomising minimalist elegance in all its form!
At 250mph, this car’s astonishing top speed is enabled by its unique rear-wheel drive architecture that distributes engine and electric motor output evenly among its axles. A 723hp, 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V-8 provides just 70% of motive force; with the remaining percentage coming from an axial flux electric motor powered by one of the world’s highest-density battery packs in production cars. An extended rear diffuser and flat underfloor help reduce base pressure and drag by diffusing airflow at exit points.
Retractable digital cameras at the front of the car serve as replacement door mirrors, offering a wider field of vision for parking. Inside is an exponent of modern luxury: with one central driving seat and two passenger seats that can be configured into various configurations; plus an inviting Scandinavian leather finish on one of them that makes for an inviting ride; all other surfaces used inside feature premium materials and finishes.
Accessing the McLaren Speedtail is made simple thanks to its double-skinned, power-operated dihedral doors, allowing easy entry. Once inside, three large displays provide plenty of information – one in the center of the dashboard provides navigation and entertainment functions; another screen offers vehicle infotainment system. Finally, another display provides vehicle details in one of six modes depending on circumstances.
Initial impressions of the Speedtail do not compare favorably with that of a standard McLaren 720S due to it taking time for all 500bhp of engine power to reach the road surface and electronic stability control keeping the car close to their limit. But once that has taken place, however, the Speedtail becomes an amazing machine which is both thrilling and breathtaking to pilot – both visually and audibly.
Technology
McLaren’s inaugural Hyper-GT is an ingenious blend of science and art in automotive form. Featuring a custom hybrid powertrain and carbon fibre body designed to maximise airflow around it – much like those seen in streamliners that once set world records.
The Speedtail is a three-seater with the driver in the center. Double-skinned power-operated dihedral doors open upwards and backwards to access its cockpit; their design aims to evoke feelings of grandeur and space that are amplified by its glass ceiling. Inside is lined with Scandinavian leather that can be customized by its owners; additionally, McLaren’s name and Speedtail emblem are cast from 18-carat white gold.
Every panel on the Speedtail has been meticulously designed to maximize airflow over, under, and through it. For instance, its windshield curves seamlessly from cowl to mid-roof; side bodywork slides seamlessly across front wheels without disrupting seams; while its rear wheels feature fixed carbon-fiber covers to minimize drag.
The car’s ailerons are part of its bodywork and designed to reduce turbulence. When deployed, they curl upwards and outwards to form a virtual sail that captures wind currents to slow its motion – unlike active aero systems that use bolted-on flaps; unlike them, these ailerons can be deployed at high speeds without creating additional stress on its structure.
At 250 mph, any car requires serious braking power – the Speedtail is no different. Equipped with McLaren’s first retractable electric supercar brakes combining traditional hydraulic system components and an electric motor motor for unparalleled levels of control and energy regeneration at extreme speeds.
Speedtail uses electrochromatic glass on its windshield and rear window to help keep its passengers’ eyes focused on the road while traveling at high speeds, and to shield occupants from direct sunlight.
The McLaren Speedtail is the pinnacle of McLaren heritage and future, boasting an innovative hybrid powertrain and groundbreaking aerodynamic design to become one of the fastest, most efficient, and most striking vehicles ever created by McLaren. Only 106 of these iconic vehicles will be produced; deliveries should begin as soon as 2020.
